1000mm JST PH6 (6P, 2mm pitch) to 4 flying leads

Connects a 6 Pin socketed Stepper Motor to a driver/controller board

When buying this product you receive:

Compatible with most Nema 17 bipolar stepper motors with a JST PH6 type connector on the stepper motor body:

When connected to a stepper motor the stepper motor pins map to these colours on the cable:

  • Pin 1: RED
  • Pin 2: NC
  • Pin 3: YELLOW
  • Pin 4: GREY
  • Pin 5: NC
  • Pin 6: GREEN

For mapping a conncted stepper to your driver/controller board you need to know the internal wiring of your stepper motor. The common Nema 17 steppers that use 6 pin JST connectors are usually internally wired one of 2 ways:

  • What we (mecha4makers.co.nz) call type ‘A’
    • Connected to pins 1, 3, 4, 6
    • Pin 1: Coil A+ (RED when connected to this cable)
    • Pin 3: Coil B+ (YELLOW when connected to this cable)
    • Pin 4: Coil A- (GRAY when connected to this cable)
    • Pin 6: Coil B- (GREEN when connected to this cable)
  • What we (mecha4makers.co.nz) call type ‘B’
    • Connected to pins 1, 3, 4, 6
    • Pin 1: Coil A+ (RED when connected to this cable)
    • Pin 3: Coil A- (YELLOW when connected to this cable)
    • Pin 4: Coil B+ (GRAY when connected to this cable)
    • Pin 6: Coil B- (GREEN when connected to this cable)
  • Note: If you connect your stepper and it wriggles but does not turn, you need to most likely reverse the 2 middle wires (Yellow/Gray) as this is the most relevant difference between the above 2 stepper motor internal wiring types
